This site was set up in 2008, to help people find Government consultations more easily, and to show that it could be done: quickly and easily. The site has never been funded as such, and has relied on volunteers for maintenance and support. It hasn't had much maintenance recently and this shows: some consultations can't be found and some functions don't work as they should. We are currently seeking funding for a new version of TellThemWhatYouThink.
In the meantime, you can search a limited number of departments for open consultations at the Directgov Consultation Finder.
The European Commission has tabled a proposal to increase EU milk quotas by 2 per cent from 1 April 2008. This proposal is to be discussed at the Agriculture Council on 21-22 January, and in order to inform the UK negotiating position, I would be grateful for your urgent views on the proposal by 17 January at the latest. The second issue relates to UK implementation of the proposal if it is adopted. I would welcome your comments on this aspect by 29 February.
The proposal is to be discussed at the Special Committee for Agriculture (SCA) on 14 January, before a discussion at the Agriculture Council on 21-22 January and following an opinion from the European Parliament in February, is likely to be adopted in mid-March.
At the end of the consultation period copies of the responses we receive will be made publicly available. The information they contain will also be published in a summary of responses.
