This paper sets out the proposed detailed arrangements to be included in the orders and regulations which implement the new revised locally-based ethical regime, including:
- the operation of standards committee's power to make initial assessments of misconduct allegations;
- the operation of other functions by standards committees and the Adjudication Panel in issuing sanctions;
- the operation of the Standards Board's new power to provide guidance, support and monitor the regime; and
- the rules on providing dispensations, the issue of exemptions of posts from political restrictions and the pay of local authority political assistants.
Timeframe
This consultation started on 3rd January 2008 and ended on 15th February 2008.
