Proposals for the "Health Check" of the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)

Consultation published by The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs View original »

On 20 May, the European Commission published proposals for the “`Health Check’” reforms of the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).  This is an important review of the CAP that could potentially have significant implications, particularly for farmers across the EU, as well as enhancing the delivery of environmental benefits through farming for the environment and for cutting prices for consumers.

The UK will be fully engaged in the EU negotiations on the Health Check, with agreement expected to be reached before the end of the year.
